Video games have enormous creative potential. No longer are artists or visionaries confined to providing mere 'windows' into their thoughts - a player can all but be picked up and placed within a team's collective imagination. Every game provides a unique world, and that world brings with it an entirely new set of rules, items, physics, places, sounds, behaviors, goals, powers, creatures, freedoms, and challenges.
Creating a video game, then, requires a wide variety of talents. The Game Creation Society is about bringing together those talents. We proudly welcome programmers, artists, level designers, writers, project managers, sound effects technicians, composers, play testers, interface designers, producers, directors and marketing gurus alike. When all of those talented people communicate closely with one another and work towards a common goal, wonderful things happen. They begin to learn from one another. And the byproduct of this skill cross pollination is a complete game that anyone can share with friends, family, and coworkers for generations to come. All of our titles are freeware, which we do to encourage the sharing of ideas and to provide invaluable additions to member portfolios. Producing an excellent video game does not require a huge budget - the GCS is purely academic and non-profit. Creating games does, however, warrant a great deal of time, ability, imagination, and work. We're more than willing. |
